I was born in Zagreb
in 1974 and although I was very good student I never had any special talents.
And I really wanted to find something that really interests me, smoothing I’m
good at, something I have talent for.
My first encounter with gestalt was back in High school during psychology class. We did a nonverbal exercise in pairs, and the task was to meet each other on the piece of paper, each with a crayon of his own. I was struck by the deepness and simplicity of that exercise. How many things can be said in such a way, and later when we commented own experience, and when the teacher asked is there some similarity between our behavior in exercise and in the ways we go into contact in our lives. I was amazed, so simple and yet so to the point for me.
I realized that if I wanted to learn more about gestalt I needed to study Psychology. It Which I did and it was rather disappointing experience for me. So scientific and cognitive and boring for me. Too few of practical, clinical stuff, working with real people. No insights like those in high school.
After graduation I started to work in the field of organizational psychology. First as a consultant and than as a human resources manager. And I started my gestalt training and that was it for me. People spoke the language I understand and the value systems were similar. An there were a lot of insights, which I liked.
Working in organizations thought me a lot about how business works, how to organize work, a lot about development and it did not satisfy me. My values were more on humanistic side and less on business one. More and more I was considering starting my private practice. That seemed like a quite a risk and I did that. Luckily. And it wasn't easy. At that time I got married and soon after I gave birth to my daughter Melita. I still work as a gestalt therapist in private practice doing individual and group psychotherapy. in the meantime I became mother for the second time to a little girl called Mirta.
I found my talent – gestalt psychotherapy and I am happy to part of Gestalt Centre Homa J
