I have lived in Zagreb since I was born. I was born in a family of four, and used to live with my older brother and growing up with my close relatives of similar age. It was the beginning of building up my resilience and facing my fears.
During the high school years I met my best friend who, since then, has been constantly involved and given proof to a peeling of my onion, both personally and professionally. I graduated from the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences. During my studies I became aware of the passion for learning and combining theory with practical work. I was interested in all sorts of activities (so I did - most of them) and my professional work brought various experiences and added some more layers to my professional identity. I used to work as a primary school expert associate, next as a special education teacher working with adults with intellectual difficulties, then in early intervention programme for children with autistic spectrum disorder, after that as a kindergarten expert associate, and today - as a counsellor and psychotherapist.
Parallel with the professional development as a special education teacher, I started my journey into psychotherapy. I started gestalt psychotherapy education as a Jasenka Pregrad and Klaus Engel’s student. During the next few years peeling layers of my onion brought a lot of different tastes and spices, a tear to my eye chopping the onion and a lot of tasty meals.
Today, in my professional life I love two things – children with autistic spectrum disorders and their families (1) and psychotherapy (2). Although it is sometimes very hard to live the two identities, I think it has made me more competent, and each of them has made me a person with rather peculiar professional experience.
In last few years I have practised the work with children with autistic spectrum disorder through conferences and symposiums, applied behavioural analysis and psychotherapy - basic in family systematic approach, various workshops, conferences and The Summer Residential Gestalt Therapy Training Program (GATLA).
My private life has brought a circle of close friends (which have been founded on the six beautiful women) who protect my inner layers, support me during hard times and keep me stand still in good times. With their help and the help from my family, my onion seems to be much more colourful.
I’m still eager for knowledge and experiences so that I’ve been continuously trying to improve. And love.
